I have always admired Chanel make up, and this best-seller product was no exception. Since there are many amazing reviews on this product, I thought to myself that this is a good reason to give it a go. Currently living in England, we hardly get any sun, which means that there is no natural way to get a tan either. Because of that, I was on the hunt for natural bronzer. And I am so glad I found one. This product gives the skin a natural sun kissed look, rather than a muddy-fake-tan effect, which I’m not a fan of.
Chanel Soleil Tan de Bronzing Makeup Base (£36 for 30g) is a medium, semi-rich golden brown bronzer with yellow undertones. The formula of the product is defined as light cream-gel bronze, that gives beautiful sun-bathed look that can be worn on its own or “over or under” your foundation. The consistency is smooth and thin like a cream product. This bronzer would be most suitable for fair to light and medium skin tones, as it’s likely to be too light for the darker skin tones. I tend to wear it on its own, or over my liquid foundation.
In the beginning I was skeptical about the product as it looked like a lot of work. Oh boy, I was wrong! Creamy formula actually gives a better control over the product. I apply where the sun would normally hit: over my hairline and along my cheekbones. Dense flat top kabuki brush or synthetic stippling brush like MAC 187, would be the best option. I have heard people saying that product doesn’t work or it is hard to blend, and the brush could be the reason why.
The product is easily build-able for a higher coverage. I tend to apply more as its so lightweight. It also, blends into the skin subtly and naturally without being too intense. It also feels like nothing on my skin.
Is it worth the hype?
I have been using the product for one month now and I absolutely love it. This bronzer adds natural glow without being shimmery and doesn’t look muddy on my skin tone. This is the best bronzer I have tried so far. I payed £36 for 30g of product, which is worth the money in a long run. Compare to other popular bronzers, Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel contains more of the product (Benefit Hoola bronzer is only 8g). Despite using a lot of the it, I’m not even sure if I will finish the bronzer before it expires. The only down side that it comes in one shade, therefore it might not be suitable for everyone.
